The Prime minister of India has started a new fellowship program for those students who completed their graduation or masters in the Science and Technology field which is known as Prime Minister Research Fellowship 2025. The candidates will get benefit for a scholar combined course for 4 years while researchers of B.Tech. will benefit for 5 years.

  • National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
  • Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISERs)

 Central Universities to conduct research in the fields of science and technology with focus on national significance. Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Indian Government has been developed this Prime Minister Research Fellowship 2025 program. The interested students can apply and get scholarship by two channels one is Direct Entry Channel and second is Lateral Entry Channel.

Committee members will choose those students who lie under eligibility criteria and take admission to Ph.D. Courses by using IISc/IISERs/IITs/NITs/Central Universities.

Objective of Prime Minister Research Fellowship

  1. Provide financial assistance to students who pass eligibility criteria for Ph.D. duration and arrange money to complete the degree program.

Eligibility Criteria for Prime Minister Research Fellowship
Direct Entry Channel
  • Candidates must be enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree in science and technology field with CGPA 8.0-10 from IISc/IISERs/IITs/NITs/Central Universities or other Indian recognized educational institute and 650 grades in GATE exam.
  • Students who are qualified in GATE exam in Master Tech or MS in research area from PMRF institute with CGPA 8.0 or above with minimum 4 courses in first semester.
Lateral Entry Channel

Candidates of 1st year Ph.D. program in PMRF Granting institute.

  • After finishing master program, candidates should complete 12 months of Ph.D. to apply for scholarship.
  • After completing bachelor’s program, students must complete 24 months of Ph.D. to apply for scholarship.
  • Candidates should complete Ph.D. with 4 courses with CGPA 8 on 10-point scale.
  • This program only considers students once in total.
