The Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship 2025 is provided by the government of West Bengal to help bright students from low financial families. Many students are underprivileged and are not able to continue their studies due to financial issues. The category of eligibility is from classes 9 to 12 as well as those who are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs within the state. The primary goal is to reduce the financial burden on students and motivate them to pursue excellent education without financial limitations. About Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
Minority students are encouraged to apply for this year’s Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, which provides financial support to deserving students from West Bengal who are pursuing higher education. The scholarship also covers students enrolled in M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs at state-aided institutions. However, students selected for this scheme cannot receive any other government-funded scholarships (from either the state or central government) for the same course or level of study. Students who receive one-time financial assistance, partial fee waivers, or support from their institution will still be eligible to benefit from this scholarship. To apply, the student’s annual family income must not more ₹2.5 lakh per year
The objective of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2025
The primary objective of this scholarship is to provide findings to the students enabling them to pursue higher education. By alleviating economic barriers, the scheme seeks to empower students to achieve their academic goals and contribute meaningfully to society.
This scholarship is available for the students enrolled in regular full-time courses across various educational levels, including higher secondary (Classes XI and XII), undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Medicine, and other professional fields. The government will pay your fee during your education and the good thing about the scholarship is that it is renewable based on academic performance by this initiative. The government of Bengal wants to empower the youth population in West Bengal.
Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Academic Criteria
- Regular students from high secondary section can apply
- The project benefits undergraduate courses in science, arts, engineering, medicine, commerce, and technical or professional disciplines.
- This scholarship program will cover students enrolled in M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in State-Aided Institutions.
Minimum Marks Requirement
- For getting funds to the Higher Secondary Level candidate must have scored at least 60% in the 10th grade or its equivalent.
- For getting funds in Diploma Programs Applicants must have scored at least 60% in the Secondary (Madhyamik) Examination or its equivalent.
- For getting Undergraduate scholarship Candidates must have passed (12th grade) with at least 60% of the possible points, or its equivalent.
- For Postgraduate scholarship candidates must have graduated with at least 53% of the possible points in honors degree. It is necessary to receive at least 55% in engineering courses.
- For Ph.D. Scholarship Programs: Eligible research scholars are full-time students enrolled in Ph.D. or at state-aided universities.
Financial Criteria
Please note that all applicants must be residents of West Bengal and enrolled in regular full-time courses in recognized institutions within the state.

Renewal Instructions of Scholarship for MBBS students
Because of the way the medical curriculum is structured, medical students enrolled in MBBS courses under SVMCM have to conform to a slightly modified schedule:
Initial Renewal:
Send in your first professional MBBS exam mark sheet. Usually, this is completed by the conclusion of the first school year.
Second Renewal:
Submit transcript of MBBS for second regeneration.
The third and last renewal:
Send the mark sheet for the third Professional part 1 MBBS examination from the most recent renewal cycle.
